LOHILO Foods has been producing ice cream since 1979, evolving from a small-town brand to a beloved name across Sweden. Recently, LOHILO has also developed healthier alternatives to traditional ice cream, such as protein ice cream without added sugar. With a focus on low-carb, high-protein, and low-fat products, LOHILO continues to attract both Swedish ice cream lovers and health-conscious consumers worldwide.
Why Radioshuttle™?
Challenge: Optimizing Cold Storage for Expanding Demand
As LOHILO grew, so did their need for larger, better-optimized warehouse space. The company moved into a new warehouse and logistics facility to secure future expansion. They also constructed a 21,528 square-foot freezer capable of holding about 4 million cartons of ice cream. However, the challenge lay in efficiently using this cold storage space while ensuring it operated in the extremely low -24°C (-11.2°F) freezer environment.
Solution: Radioshuttle™ for Efficient Cold Storage Optimization
To meet these needs, LOHILO turned to Radioshuttle™, a highdensity storage solution specifically designed for extreme temperature environments. Magnus Ullerås, Key Account Manager at Radioshuttle™, recognized that the Radioshuttle™ system would be ideal for maximizing storage in LOHILO’s new freezer. This semi-automated solution allowed them to double the pallet storage capacity while ensuring smooth operations and energy savings.
Result: Increased Storage and Efficiency
With Radioshuttle™, LOHILO has significantly increased storage capacity and improved efficiency. According to Erik Isaksson, warehouse manager at LOHILO, the system has greatly helped in the smooth daily movement of ice cream, especially during campaigns when lead times are short. The seamless integration of Radioshuttle™ into their operations has allowed LOHILO to increase storage space and enhance overall efficiency, marking a successful collaboration with Radioshuttle™ from start to finish.
By installing Radioshuttle™, they have space for twice as many pallet spaces, and thus ice creams, which saves them both energy and resources.
